Took a quick trip to Walmart today, glasses in hand. I’d been walking around with impaired vision for the last five days. For the second time in the past few months I caused one of the lenses to pop out.The first time was when I was shooting juggling videos in Central Park in New York City. I stepped on them by accident. This time is when they fell off the table while typing on my laptop. They hit the floor just right and that same lens popped out.
And for a certain friend in New York City, yes it really WAS an accident. No hidden meanings there.(No, not you Liza.)
It’s no big deal. Not as if I’m blind without them. Just takes a little longer to read small print and I drive a little slower at night.
But the optician popped the lens back in, then cleaned them. I put them back and and SHAZAM!!! The world got big and bright and clear again.
I swear, the world looked like a new place. Everything was vivid. Colors and details exploded into my consciousness. I was FEELING it!
And now I sit down to the computer with a new perspective on the world. Not a new one really. Just a fresh one. A little bit of self denial that’s resolved makes all the difference in the world.
So what is it YOU can do to change your perspective? I don’t recommend breaking your glasses.
But a new look at things can go an long way!
Your Clear Visioned Pal,
Larry
Walking past a young lady I’ve seen before, I make the comment.
I get a smile and a thank you. Not suspicous, not enthusiastic. Somewhere in between. I do like her blouse. It’s colorful, with it’s green/blue/torquoise thing going for it. A great pattern too.
I feel good telling her that I like her blouse. Then I move on.
I see a 16 year male I know wearing a shirt and tie. He’s dressed up because the football coach told them to dress that way before the game tonight. He’s a little wrinkled, but it was obviously something he isn’t used to.
It’s a good combo though, the wrinkles notwithstanding. And he looks good wearing it. So I tell him. In fact I tell him he could pass for a teacher.
I get a big grin in return. THAT he liked.
Later on I see a young woman wearing a killer outfit. High heels, panty hose, skirt to mid thigh, silk blouse. Dark colors. Looks like she’s going to a job interview.
The boys are no doubt drooling over this young lady all day. But if that’s what she was going for she’d be wearing the low cut top so many other ladies of her age group put on. I ask her if she’s going for a job interview. Turns out she is. I tell her she looks very professional.
I get a look of utter appreciation. FINALLY…the validation she was after!
What’s happening here? I stepped outside my own head for a while and saw things from the point of view of others. I looked for something to appreciate in them and communicated it when I found it.
I put it in a context that meant something to them. People want to be recognized for the effort they make…and the results.
It’s easy for you to do this anytime you want. If you take a minute and look around you’ll find dozens of people waiting for you to acknowledge them.
And when you do you’ll lift them up.
And when you lift them up, you lift yourself up in the process. Your energy becomes attractive, almost irresistible.
This takes very little effort for most of us. The rewards? HUGE! Businesses skyrocket. Relationships get better. TV remote controls get passed into your hands. Popcorn is made for you. Seats are saved. The list goes on forever!
Find someone’s blouse to like. Or their shoes. Or their wrinkled shirt. Or their smile.
Watch what happens….to them and you.
Welcome to my first post on my very own blog on my very own site.
I’m excited! Tired, but excited. It’s been a loooooong day!
I want to tell you everything about what I see for you, me and all of us. We really are capable of doing, having or becoming whoever and whatever we want to be.
And I’m going to show you what I mean…over time.
Tonight, I’m feeling a sense of gratitude. To Melissa Ward for helping me set this up.
To you, for being interested enough in what I have to say to read this now.
And to myself for having the imagination, patience, wisdom and desire to come this far.
I’m going even further!
Care to come along???
Your Pal,
Larry
