“Because I Said So”
Some parents convince their young children they have supernatural powers - or at least try to…
“Eat your broccoli.”
“Why?”
“Because I Said So!”
“Clean your room.”
“Why?”
Because I Said So!!”
“Do your homework.”
“Why??”
“BECAUSE I SAID SO!!!”
*** *** ***
These parents want to be omnipotent in their kids’ worlds. They want to speak their words into existence. They want the word to become law.
And sometimes it does. For some, obeying parents without any hesitation is based on fear.
And for others it’s based on complete dependence on the guidance of a mother or father, or both.
And sometimes it’s based on complete trust, love, honor and respect for the person who tells you what to do.
*** *** ***
It can be easy or hard to speak your will into another person. Usually it’s impossible unless it’s a dependent child.
(And if it’s someone other than a dependent child, ask yourself if you really want that kind of power over another.)
*** *** ***
Now let’s get to the meat and potatoes of the matter…
How good are you at speaking YOUR OWN WORDS into existence?
It goes back to the authority and confidence you used when speaking your will into someone else. You had every expectation they would obey…
because you had a complete sense of control and power.
AND (my point)…if you have a sense of control and power over your own life, you find you can speak your own reality into existence.
*** *** ***
“I will attract $20,000 into my checking account this week…because I said so.”
“I will manifest my best time ever running five miles…because I said so.”
“I will create the perfect vacation for my spouse and me, including a great experience for the kids (apart from us)…because I said so.”
There are people who do this as on an everyday basis. Some are famous - such as Donald Trump, Hugh Hefner, etc.
Some are underground, quietly living the life of their dreams. They have a partnership with the Universe. It’s as if they’re the parent and the forces around them have such love and regard, they arrange great things for them.
And there are many who have partially mastered this skill and have created wonderful life situations. They’re on their way to achieving that same relationship and having a great time in the process.I’m one of those very people!
*** *** ***
Where are you on the “Because I Said So” spectrum? Do you have the power to shape worlds? Do you have no influence on anyone or anything? Which end of the equation are you closer to?
And…are you interested in figuring out the process of making miracles in your own life…because YOU SAID SO???
Here are five things you can do this very moment to start speaking your words into existence…
1. Commit to one “Because I Said So” for starters. We tend to bombard ourselves with words and intentions. We mean them when we say them, but have a hard time keeping up. Quality is much better than quality. It lays the foundation for everything that comes after.
2. Create an intention, then get quiet. Let it sink in to your consciousness. Write it out or speak it out loud if you like. Then let it be.
3. Get underneath other people’s intentions. There’s nothing like good energy coming back to you after you’ve been there for others. Celebrate the success of those who speak their words into existence.
4. Accept help. It’s your birthright. We’re humans. We communicate with and support each other. Join a community that is moving in your direction.
5. (As my friend Rich German says) focus on the BEING of your intention. Don’t create from a state of hyper-activity. Become the person who has the FEELING of the thing you want. The people, resources and things you’re supposed to do will show up. Then let them in.
Have a HUGE Weekend!

P.S. The Universe is your partner, not your servant. You have control over who you become. The Universe has control over how you get there.
Mystery of Manifestation Explained
A Triple Shot of Manifestation Magic!!!
To my NO MORE HOLDING BACK Friends,
Pour yourself a cup of something warm (unless you’re Jack and Alexis in Costa Rica, in which case you should pour something cool). I’ve got three things to share with you. Will take a few minutes, but it’ll be worth it.
What happens when you take your desires…
(not the “gee, I’d like to make some extra money/get healthier/attract a lover/insert your own” desire…
but your WHITE HOT, I’M COMMITTED TO MAKING IT HAPPEN, EVEN IF I HAVE TO STEP WAAAAAAAAAY OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE desire…)
and get serious about picking up the ATTITUDES and SKILLS of people who have already done what you’re doing?
Chances are you wind up aligning with a community that makes that happen.
That’s just what I did.
Tru dat! Brian Campbell and Steve Pohlit are in alignment with the way I think and feel about manifesting the things we REALLY REALLY want. So are the other folks who make up part of the community.
And that’s what it is…. a community of people who dream, share, laugh and learn together…
and then MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Wanna come play with us? Get the free course.

How The Law of Attraction REALLY Works
(This is a question I answered recently on another site. Pay attention..this is how the Law of Attraction really works.)
Question…
Hi everyone! I am as new as they get. I tried the whole clearing your mind and visualizing the whole new car smell, feel, etc. I just could not get into it. I don’t know if I am doing it wrong or what. I am looking for some pointers and some insight, please.
Also, I tried the meditation thing. Not really good at that either. I just feel like I am wasting time. I don’t know if I just don’t completely believe in the Law of Attraction or if I am not concentrating hard enough or what.
Please help !
****
Answer…
This one’s pretty simple. Visualizing is the start of the process of manifesting. Anything we became, achieved or acquired got there because we wanted it first.
Then we visualized (or listened, touched, smelled…used whatever sense that made it more real to us). So it whetted our appetite for it some more.
Then the rubber hits the road. Where fantasies turn into manifestations. Our level of commitment.
COMMITMENT!
See, it’s a big word.
If we truly follow the law of attraction, we are lead to the intermediate steps that give us what we want.
We develop skills we didn’t have before.
We summon our courage to step out of our comfort zones.
We detach from worrying about what others think.
We value ourselves enough to sacrifice things that aren’t important enough and put our resources into the things that move us toward what we want.
And make no mistake people…those things are time, sweat, and money.
And we create paradigm shifts…in the way we think, feel and behave.
It’s very simple. If you’re visualizing but aren’t getting closer to what you really want, it’s one or more of these…
* You don’t really want it.
* You’re missing the signs that tell you which way to turn towards it.
* You don’t love yourself enough to believe you deserve it.
* You haven’t summoned the will power to follow the path that leads you toward it.
Now…how do you change that? Simple (though not necessarily easy)…
* Clarify what you want.
* Make it big and bright, again through visualization of some kind.
* Develop the self love and self respect to believe you deserve it.
* Make the commitment…what you want is more important than anything else in the world.
* Hook on with a group that’s going in your direction.
* Find a mentor or coach that will assist you in these processes, if you’re not getting there on your own.
This reminds me of a line from a movie: A League of Their Own. Geena Davis tells Tom Hanks she’s quitting the girl’s baseball team because “it just got too hard.”
Tom’s response: “It’s supposed to be hard. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. The hard is what makes it great.”
With Joy in the Commitment,
Larry
P.S. Another note tomorrow. I’m going to have a surprise for you. ![]()
An “Abundance” of Cellos
Another Tuesday evening. I’m in my usual routine: dropping my 12 year old daughter off at her rehearsal with the Connecticut Children’s Chorus at the University of Hartford. Something’s different this week though…
Usually when her group rehearses it’s at a magnet elementary school on campus. This week their regular spot wasn’t available, so rehearsal was moved to the building on campus that houses the Hartt School of Music.
Quick background: the Hartt School is one of the most well respected music performance programs in the United States. It’s graduated more than its share of music superstars. And I love the fact that my little girl is part of it, at an early stage of her career.
I was a little bummed out because though I brought my laptop I knew there was no wireless access, like there is at the elementary school. I decided I’d pass the two hours by editing video, reading my book (which I forgot at home) and talking/texting with whichever friends I could reach during the dinner hour.
Something interesting happened though. I got Sarah to her rehearsal nice and early, then looked for a place to set up shop. I hadn’t been in this building in a couple of years, back when the younger kids group used to rehearse.
It was fun being back though. Performance rooms full of young, earnest, musicians. Some of them straight and serious, some of them goofy looking avant garde types, but all of them obviously loving what they do. Heard one playing some convoluted, complex but beautiful piece of music.
I saw and heard similar stuff going on with a flute and a trumpet. It was great, youthful energy. Think of the 1980 movie, Fame.
Then I peaked in one of the rooms and saw them…
Cellos.
Six cellos lined up neatly on a rack. They were in an inner office.
Having two musicians for kids, I’m used to instruments flying around. Jill, my older one plays the flute and trombone. Sarah plays the French horn, keyboard and is learning the guitar. It’s all good, noisy fun.
That, and when I saw “O” by Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas a few years back, the opening theme, played by a cellist cemented that instrument in my head as something beautiful…and exclusive.
So for some crazy reason, to see six of them just sitting there, waiting to be played by someone who is experiencing the love of music gave me a strange emotional reaction. And it gave me a different perspective on the concept of abundance.
There are all kinds of scarcity. Not enough food, not enough shelter, not enough heat, not enough money, not enough affection, fulfillment, etc. We all know them.
And there are all kinds of abundance. Plenty of food, comfort, love, security, beauty, plenty of the sublime, wonderful delicious sounds that go on in and around us.
The differences between scarcity and abundance are really nothing more than where we decide to tune in (no pun intended). I looked at these instruments just sitting there waiting to be played. I realized the students who would be playing them aren’t all folks who grew up with mansions, servants and trust funds.
Sure, some of them had privileged backgrounds. I celebrate that. Their families figured out how to make the economic system work for them. They tapped into the same stream of abundance that’s really available to all of us, and they gave their children the opportunity to speak the language of music.
And some of them are first generation college students. They hooked on with a school music program. Someone identified a talented kid, nurtured that talent and turned out a young adult who is playing the cello.
It’s the Law of Attraction at its best. We desire something. Forces around us read that desire and line up the circumstances to make it happen.
And we allow it into our experience, through accepting the help of others and working our fingers to the bone, in joy and love.
The cello isn’t a rare thing. I saw six of them today! Somewhere in the world someone is making a new one right now! Same for the harp, the bassoon, the pipe organ and any other instrument you can think of.
Somewhere, someone is looking for a person with enough desire and patience to make something happen.
Who are you? Are you that superstar in training? Are you the future cellist, or public speaker, or graphic designer, or happily married soul?
Are you the person who has touched greatness and wants to help someone else get to that same wonderful place?
It’s not about how old you are. It’s not about what you do or don’t have. It’s barely about talent!
It is about opening your eyes, ears and heart to the beautiful music around you. See it, feel it, touch it.
Let the crazy, inspired energy carry you on the path to making it your own.
Your Musical Friend,
Larry
For 2009: “THE GATEWAY GOAL”
This is an article I like to publish at the beginning of each new year. Whether you know it or not, you’re in a REALLY GOOD position to make some magic this year. More on that soon.
*** *** ***
Once you decide upon a “Gateway Goal” your dreams have a very real chance of coming true.
New Year’s Resolution time comes, and what do many of us do? We sit down and write out our laundry list of things to get done in the coming year.
There’s some statistic somewhere that says 95% of all resolutions don’t become reality. I’d guess that number is closer to 99%, but let’s go with the smaller number.
Why is this the case? Is it because the people who make the resolutions weren’t serious in the first place? Possibly.
Is it because they overextended their ability to make change in their lives. Could be that as well.
I think there’s one main reason why people don’t live up to the goals they set for themselves; new year’s resolutions or otherwise.
The reason? They don’t hit the underlying thoughts, feelings and behaviors that cause them to have the need for change in the first place.
Let’s use a typical example. Someone I coach wants to expand his weight loss business. So far, so good.
He’s established that as a goal for the coming year. It’s a great goal, and he sees the benefits of a growing business.
What does it take to build this kind of business? Lots of things: patience, persistence, a good marketing plan, good follow through…etc.
Now, what does it REALLY take to build this kind of business?
A belief that what you market - in this case, nutrition and weight loss products - is really worth the money you’re asking people to pay for it.
Here was the crisis for this gentleman. He didn’t believe in what he was doing all the way because he wasn’t getting results from his products.
And he wasn’t getting results because he wasn’t using them correctly.
Dig a little deeper. He wasn’t using them correctly because he didn’t see himself as WORTHY. He didn’t have the belief in himself, which carried over to everything else he tried to do.
So we stepped back and created a “Gateway Goal.” This was the goal that would enable all of his other goals to become possible.
We set the goal of improved self-esteem, and laid out specific steps to make this happen, with little successes built in along the way.
It starts with the infrastructure for success. That infrastructure is ALWAYS internal. The external creation is outside of yourself. It could be the coolest, hottest, most outrageous thing.
But you won’t access it until you access the power inside yourself.
Until he feels personally confident and personally empowered to go out and make the changes in HIMSELF…none of the other stuff will happen.
But once it does, look out! He’ll be unstoppable!
*** ***
What goals are you thinking about for yourself?
Are you truly in a position where you can make these things come true? Or do you need to step back and work on a few things within yourself first?
Take some time and come up with a “Gateway Goal.”
Work on that first, then watch some real magic occur in your life.
Your Friend,
Larry
P.S. Something BIG is coming soon…and I’m going to be a part of it. Keep your eyes open. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s done “cooking.” ![]()
Pressure and Time
One of my favorite movies is The Shawshank Redemption. It’s about a man who is falsely imprisoned for murdering his wife.
Andy, the main character did everything he could over the twenty years of time in which the movie took place to keep his dignity and sanity. He carved chess pieces out of rocks. He helped build a prison library. And he studied geology. His friend Red, played by Morgan Freeman (who is also the movie’s narrator) noted geology is the study of pressure and time.
It’s true. I won’t give away the ending of the movie in case you haven’t seen it and want to. But Andy very much conducted his life based on the pressure on him and time allotted.
We’re very much creatures in that same mold. Much of our pressure is external. Bills must get paid, appointments must be kept, dinners must be cooked, etc. Modern life exerts its own stresses on us.
And most people won’t go past that point of pressure. It’s enough. They feel the pull of time, the march toward closure. At some point they reckon they will die and meet whatever is next after this experience. They may as well have a good time in the meanwhile, and try to behave well on the Earth plane in case they are to be judged afterward.
If you have chosen to read this article, you probably have a different kind of pressure, like Andy did. The pressure of living out the genius, your music, your purpose, choose whatever word works for you. That thing that’s yearning to come out.
Expressing your sacred self. That’s a phrase I like.
The pressure builds. And it pushes you to do things you hadn’t found the courage to do before.
You’re in a community of people with extraordinarily high vibrations. You’ve GOTTA make it happen. The pressure of living out your dream, coupled with the pressure of living up to the standard here is enormous.
Time? Things go in their own time, which has nothing to do with our very limited perspective. This marvelous planet we live on evolved over billions of years. You took around 40 weeks to finish cooking inside your mother.
We accelerate the process a little bit when we plug into better surroundings and role models. Like the environment and people right here.
Time does what time does. Honor it. It got you into the present moment with all the pressure of desire for something good and new and harmonious.
Bless the pressure. Bless the time.
With much appreciation,
Larry

The Wall Street Swan Dive
As we’ve seen time and time again, people kill themselves when fortunes are lost. Like The Great Depression.
And as we’ve also seen people kill others when fortunes are lost, often their own families. It’s something that happens with animals when their offspring get sick or when the parent knows it’s sick and won’t be able to care for the babies. Rather than leave them to fend for themselves, they sometimes kill them. My first harsh lesson with that was with a family of hamsters back in 1987.
So are we hard-wired into our own animal programming? When our finances take a nosedive, are we to follow?
I didn’t bother to check how much I lost in my various tax sheltered annuities and retirement accounts over the past few months. I’m sure it was a lot. Those are for the long term. I choose not to put attention on them.
Others do, and that’s great. They see them in their “power zone.”
I exercise control over what makes sense to me: my products, my coaching, my avenues of leveraged income. I’ve got a few of those.
I exercise control over ME…my skills, my emotions, my inner peace that allows the channels to prosperity to stay open…even when more than a trillion dollars disappears from the global economy.
No swan diving. Too many people depend on me - for financial strength, for emotional strength, for companionship, for guidance, for love.
And too many people depend on those who take the swan dive, including those who will replace them in which they work. Is THAT the role model they want.
(And by the way, the “swan dive” doesn’t have to be an actual suicide. Long term despair in any form is another form of swan dive, maybe even worse in some ways because there’s no closure.)
Please understand this: anything we make can be remade - stronger and better, with lessons learned.
If we have SKILLS, including the power to learn and grow, we can do it all over again.
And we don’t have to be attached to the “stuff.” I’ll never take a swan dive for a swimming pool, or a house, or any amount of money and the alleged “security” it represents.
The phrase is “Happiness is an Inside Job.” I agree. So is security.
There’s a sunrise every morning.
You have your wits to get you around.
You have the ability to be independent and INTERDEPENDENT.
You can start over anytime and decide where you want to be.
You can cultivate an enjoyment of any aspect of life, including the lean times. It prepaves and prepares for the good stuff.
You don’t have to be attached to the symbols of what you’ve manifested. The meaning of your stuff is exactly what you assign it - no more and no less.
Other people’s opinions of your status is outside of your control. Focusing on it creates an external locus of control. Now your emotions are dependent on someone else’s approval.
No swan dives. Appreciation. All is well. You won’t starve. You won’t freeze. Creature comforts come and go.
You’re going to be fine. You have you, and that’s all you’ve ever needed.
Your Abundant Friend,
Larry
